Other Information:Thomas enlisted on 14th October 1914. He was 36 years and 16 days old; was a Engine Driver by trade; and was living at 48 Victoria Street, St James, Exeter at the time. He joined at the rank of Serjeant and was promoted to Staff Serjeant on 1st November 1915.
Thomas was posted to “7” Coy, on 20th November 1917, then on 20th December proceeded to the Prisoner of War Hospital, Chepstow Docks, under “19” Coy. He started complaining of pains in the stomach and was eventually treated by the 3rd Western General Hospital. He was discharged “No longer physically fit for war service” on 10th December 1918. Thomas did not serve abroad. He was the husband of Margaret Rowe of 48 Victoria Street, St James, Exeter.
