Other Information:William had several occupations - cloth scourer, school caretaker and market gardener and had previously served in the Navy. He enlisted on 10th December 1915 and was put on army reserve. Following a medical examination on 7th August 1917 in Leeds he was mobilized on the 4th September 1917 and posted to ‘R’ Coy, R.A.M.C. No. 1 Camp, Squires Gate, Blackpool. He was discharged on 1st March 1918 'no longer physically fit for war service'. He only served in the UK.
