He was a retired soldier when war broke out, previously serving under the service number 3028 with the Gloucesters and discharged in 1902, time expired. He enlisted into the RAMC on the 19th May 1915, his term of service being the duration of the war. He was 42 years and 4 months old, and his occupation was Mess Room Attendant. On the 30th October he was posted to serve with 7 Coy at The Beaufort War Hospital in Bristol, doing hospital duties. Frederick was married to Elizabeth and had four children.
