Bernard joined the RAMC on 1st September 1914. He was 20 years old and a butcher by trade. He trained with H' Coy. Bernard caught bronchitis and developed a cough. On 16th May 1915 a medical report was written advising that he had developed T.B. and he was discharged as permanently unfit for military service. He was the son of the late Mr W and May Morrell of Parkstone.
