Other Information:Herbert enlisted into the R.A.M.C. (TF) on 7th September 1914, joining the 3rd Northern General Hospital. He entered the war in Gallipoli on 18th September 1915 [Unit unknown]. Family history recalls that he was a cook and he contracted dysentery whilst in Gallipoli, he was invalid home to the UK and never served overseas again. On returning back to Sheffield he again joined the 3rd Northern General Hospital although at the time of his discharge on 31st January 1919 the records state he was serving with the 1st Northern General Hospital.
