Other Information:Sidney enlisted on 9th September 1914. He was living at 24 St Barbabas Terrace, Stoke Devonport, Plymouth at the time. He embarked on S.S. Lydia at Southampton on 4th June 1915, then disembarking at Havre the next day, entered the war in France on 5th June 1915. Sidney served with the 26th (3rd Wessex) Field Ambulance from 28th September 1915 - 3rd December 1916, and the 25th (1/2nd Wessex) Field Ambulance from 3rd December 1916 - 10th January 1917, and from 7th March 1917 until he was killed. He had two stays in hospital - once with a sore throat and the other suffering with Bronchitis. Sidney was the son of William J and Mary E Martin.
