Other Information:George’s occupation was an electrician. He was 5 ft 11 3/4 inches tall. He married in service, no details recorded, except that he had one child. George was appointed by Newcastle upon Tyne, Borough Police on 25th November 1913. On the 22nd January he served as PC72B, B Division and the 9th January 1914, PC15E, E Division. At that time he was living at Central Police Station, Pilgrim Street. On the 2nd December 1915, George resigned to join HMF and enlisted into the RAMC. On the 6th January 1919, he was re-admitted into the police force, to E Division as a clerk. On the 14th November 1924 he was promoted to Sergeant 4, and on the 7th May 1926, still serving at E Division was Sergeant 6E clerk. On the 20th May 1927, George was promoted to Staff Sergeant 4A. He resigned on the 24th May 1929 and took up an appointment as Inspector with Scarborough Police. [Information researched and provided by John Grainger]
