Other Information:John enlisted on 19th May 1911. He was 17 years and 1 month old, was a Fish Hawker by trade, and was living at 6 Bickford Lane, Teignmouth, Devon at the time. He served with the 1st Wessex Divisional Field Ambulance, Territorial Force and was embodied into the 2/1st Wessex Field Ambulance on 5th August 1914. He was appointed temporary acting Lance Corporal, unpaid on 7th March 1915 to 14th May 1915, then paid until he was promoted to Corporal on 25th September 1915. John's service time expired on 19th May 1916 but he rejoined for a further 4 years or the duration of the war. He embarked at Southampton on 14th January 1916, then disembarking at Havre the next day he entered the war in France on 15th January 1916. On the 5th March, he was admitted into his unit suffering with frostbite foot and was evacuated back to the UK. He was posted to serve with the 3/1st Wessex Field Ambulance, at Hursley Park Camp, Winchester on the 29th May, then rejoined his unit, in the field, on 10th July 1916. He was wounded in action on 26th September 1916 and admitted into 15 Casualty Clearing Station until 30th September 1916. John was the son of John and Bessie Sealey of Teignmouth, Devon.
