Other Information:Walter was educated in Bethnal Green, London. He entered the war in Gallipoli on 15th August 1915. He died at Giza Red Cross Hospital from acute pneumonia contracted whilst on active service. His Officer Commanding wrote: "His loss is deeply mourned by the officers and men of this Field Ambulance. He was one of the steadiest, most reliable and hard-working N.C.O.'s that any Commanding Officer could possibly wish for.... Your husband had gained the profound respect and esteem of us all." One of Walter's comrades also wrote: "In losing him we have lost one of our finest men in the company."
