Other Information:Daniel had previously served with the West Kent Imperial Yeomanry. He enlisted into the 1st Home Counties Divisional Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C., T.F. on 4th May 1911. He was 29 years and 1 month old; was a Plasterer by trade; and was living at 100 Stratford Road, Strood at the time. He became one of a quota of N.C.O.’s and men, known as 'Special Reserve', who previously agreed to serve overseas in the event of a war. On 6th August 1914, he transferred from the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance to serve with the Expeditionary Force, and marched alongside Captain Greene, and the detachment, to a field adjoining Monockton’s Mill, Sandling Road, Maidstone, which had become the mobilization headquarters of No 10 Field Ambulance. He entered the war with the 10th Field Ambulance on 23rd August 1914. On 20th September 1915 he was due to transfer back to the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance. On 7th December he reported himself for duty at H.M. Dockyard, Devonport to work as an Engine Fitter but left on the 20th, being instructed to re-join his Unit at Tring. He joined the 3/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance on 21st December 1915, then transferred to the 4/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance on 1st April 1916. On 21st January 1917 to 29th March 1918 he served abroad again with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, then transferred to serve with No 3 Malta Coy until 9th February 1919. Daniel was the husband of Annie Diamond of 32 Catherine Street, Rochester, Kent.
