Other Information:George attested on 27th April 1915 and was embodied into the 2/3rd Highland Field Ambulance the same day, with the service number 1908. He was 21 years and 10 months old and was living at 40 Church Street, Dundee at the time. On 11th December 1915, he was promoted to acting Lance Corporal and then to Corporal on 19th February 1916. On 27th September 1916, George was transferred to serve with the Regular R.A.M.C. He was serving again under the rank of 'Private', and his service number changed to 90855. He was sent to 'T' Coy on 30th January 1917. On 22nd March, George embarked at Southampton, entering the war in France on 24th March 1917. He was posted to serve with the 73rd Field Ambulance on 4th April 1917 and then transferred to the 16th Field Ambulance on 3rd October, the same year. George was killed whilst serving with the 16th Field Ambulance. He was the son of William Hendry and Sarah Croll McArtney of 40 Church Street, Dundee.
