Other Information:Blyth enlisted on 7th June 1915 and was embodied into the 3/1st Lowland Field Ambulance. He was 24 years and 11 months old, a commercial clerk by trade, and was living at Station House, Kinbuck, Perthshire at the time. On the 30th July he was transferred to the 1/1st Lowland Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance and set sail for Gallipoli on the 27th September. He arrived on the 10th October and served there until 3rd February 1916, when he left for Egypt - arriving the next day. He arrived at Alexandria on the 7th. On the 12th March 1917 he transferred to the 229th Field Ambulance [due to the amalgamation of the 1/1st Highland and the 1/1st Lowland Mounted Brigade Field Ambulances on that date]. He served in Egypt until 30th April 1918, when he left for France - embarking on the H.T. Leasowe Castle, he disembarked in Marseilles on 7th May. On 17th July 1918, Blyth gained a temporary position as Clerk to the Assistant Director of Medical Services, at the 74th Division Headquarters, in the Field. On 23rd August he was promoted to Corporal and was struck off strength of the 229th Field Ambulance. He returned to the UK on 27th January 1919, and was disembodied on the 27th February.
