Andrew entered the war in Egypt on 25th June 1915. He later transferred to serve in France. *About 4.00 a.m. on 27th May 1918 the enemy started to shell St Eloi, with the first shell landing on one of the huts occupied by the personnel of this unit. This incident resulted in 10 O/Rs being slightly wounded, 6 O/Rs being severely wounded, 10 O/Rs were instantaneously killed, and 5 O/Rs died from wounds.
