Other Information:Harold enlisted on 20th April 1915, and was embodied into the 2/2nd West Lancashire Field Ambulance. He was 20 years and 30 days old; was a Stationer’s apprentice by trade; and was living at 207 New Road, Blackpool at the time. He embarked at Southampton on 8th September 1915, with the unit, then arriving the next day at Havre, entered the war in France on 9th September 1915. He was admitted into his unit on 24th April 1917 due to sickness and evacuated back to No 16 General Hospital at Treport. He was discharged on 29th May, after recovering, and was transferred to the Base Depot at Rouen. On 21st June 1917, he was posted to serve with the 56th Field Ambulance, in the field, but returned to his unit, the 63rd (2/2nd West Lancs) Field Ambulance on 5th July. He died in No 18 Casualty Clearing Station of wounds received earlier in the day. He was the son of Mrs Emma Walkden 207 New Road, Blackpool.
