Other Information:Edward qualified M.B., B.Ch., B.O.A., R.U.I. in 1906. He gained a commission in the Medical Services, at the rank of Lieutenant, on 30th July 1906. He then served in India from 1908-1913, during which time he was promoted to Captain on 30th January 1910. Edward entered the war in France on 19th August 1914 with the 4th Cavalry Field Ambulance. On 17th March 1916 he took over as Commanding Officer of the 63rd (2/2nd West Lancs) Field Ambulance from Lt/Col Reginald Storrs, and remained with them until the end of the war. He gained immediate promotion to Temporary Major on the 17th March, then served as Acting Lieutenant Colonel from 22nd August 1916 to 30th April 1919. He gained the full rank of Major on 30th July 1918. After the war Edward returned to India, where he served until 1925. He retired on pay on 30th July 26, and ceased to be on the Regular Army Reserve of Officers on 25th November 1936.
