Other Information:James lived in Borrowash, Derbyshire. He entered the war in France on the 17th August 1914. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal "For conspicuous devotion to duty when an explosion caused numerous casualties in an advanced dressing station. Though blown over by the shock, he picked himself up and quickly organised parties to attend to the wounded. This warrant officer has always set a magnificent example of devotion to duty."
