Other Information:George enlisted in the R.A.M.C. on 10th December 1901. He was 18 years old; was a Labourer by trade; and was living in Leicester at the time. He served in Malta and Crete from 4th October 1902 to 21st October 1907, then returned to the UK and served in Woolwhich. Having served his time of engagement he was transferred to Army Reserve on 10th December 1910, but was re-engaged for service for four years on 10th December 1913. George entered the war in France on 18th August 1914. On 15th December 1916 he appointed acting Serjeant, gaining promotion to the rank of Corporal on 25th May 1918. He was transferred to Class "Z" Army Reserve on 22nd February 1919.
