Other Information:Edward gained promotion from Quartermaster Serjeant to Serjeant Major on 13th August 1914, then entered the war in France a few days later, on the 18th. On 5th September he was recommended for a French Military Medal for his actions during the Battle of the Marne, which he received on 3rd December 1914. He was also mentioned in despatches. On 6th June 1916 he was appointed temporary QuarterMaster, then gained a commission of Lieutenant and Quartermaster on 5th June 1917. He lived at 10 Shelton Road, Merton Park, London, SW19.
