Other Information:William enlisted into the R.A.M.C. on 17th September 1901. He was 19 years and 8 months old. After serving his term of engagement he was transferred to Army Reserve but re-enlisted on 13th October 1913. He was now 31 years and 9 months old; was a labourer in motor works by trade; and was living at 19 Stanley Road, St James, Northampton at the time. He was mobilized at Aldershot at the outbreak of war and posted to serve with the 2nd Field Ambulance, entering the war with the unit on 19th August 1914. He saw active service abroad until 11th May 1919, being wounded by gas on 19th September 1918 but remained on duty. He was discharged from the army on 31st March 1920. He was the son of William and Mary Allan of 46 Gordon Street, Northampton.
