Other Information:John enlisted on 15th May 1913. He was 19 years old; was a Town Carman/General Labourer by trade; and was living at 45 Iron Mill Road, Wandsworth, London S.W. at the time. He joined at Aldershot the next day, then was posted to serve with No 16 Company. He entered the war in France on 19th August 1914, serving on the Western Front until 1st March 1915 when he returned to the UK. He was posted again to the Western Front on 7th December 1915, remaining there until 24th February 1918, when he returned to the UK and was admitted into hospital suffering with Varucicele and D.A.H. He was the son of Hannah Cardew, and the husband of Catherine Cadogan, whom he married on 27th April 1919 at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Skibbereen.
