Other Information:Thomas lived in Gillingham. He entered the war in France on the 21st August 1914. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in leading his squads of bearers eight times through an intense barrage and getting back many wounded. Early in the day he was wounded and buried by a shell, but refused to rest. Later he was again wounded, but carried on until all wounded had been brought back."
