Other Information:Hubert joined the army in 1914, and after a pretty rapid rise up through the ranks entered the war in France on 31st July 1915. He was 18 years old at the time. He served the entire war with the 50th Field Ambulance, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal "In recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in France and Flanders." After the war Hubert joined the Civil Service in Whitehall, and on 21st
May 1926 (LG) he is listed as a clerical officer with the Ministry of Pensions. In April 1932 (LG) he is listed as working for Customs and Excise, then in July 1937 (LG) he has transferred again and is now working for the Air Ministry, serving there throughout the second war. On 2nd January 1956 (LG) he was awarded the M.B.E. for his distinguished service as 'Higher Executive Officer, Nationalised Industries Division, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation'.
