Other Information:Hugh was educated at the Technical Institute, Walthamstow, then became a Teacher in an elementary school under the Walthamstow Education Committee. He joined the R.A.M.C. (T.F.) on 12th May 1915, and was embodied into the 2/3rd East Anglian Field Ambulance, under the service number 2485. He was 23 years and 9 months old, and was a Clerk by trade. Hugh was transferred to the regular R.A.M.C. and was posted to “Z” Coy. His service number changed to 88308. He embarked at Southampton in 27th January 1917, then disembarking in Rouen the next day, he entered the war in France on 28th January 1917. On 12th February, he reported for duty with the 46th Field Ambulance, in the field, and where he served as a stretcher-bearer. He received gun shot wounds to the neck and back and was evacuated back to No 19 Casualty Clearing Station. He died there the same day. Hugh was the son of Frederick and Emily (daughter of James Boughen) Kittle of 56 Upper Walthamstow Road, London. He never married.
