Other Information:Charles enlisted on 28th October 1915 and was posted to the RAMC Depot in Aldershot. He was 35 years and 8 months old, a postman by trade and was living at 11 "D" Block, Peabody Buildings, Rosendale Road, Herne Hill at the time. He was posted to "G" Coy, Sling Camp on 4th December, and then to "F" Coy on 5th August 1916. Charles embarked at Southampton on 24th September 1916 - then disembarking at Rouen he entered the war in France on 25th September 1916. On 2nd October he was posted to serve with the 93rd Field Ambulance in the field. He was admitted into No 13 Casualty Rest Station on 4th December 1916, suffering with contusion of head and was discharged on the 8th. He died from wounds received in action.
