Albert was employed as a cotton operative at Bury and Heape, Elton Mills Bury. He was a member of the Milnrow Conservative Club and one time member of the Church Lads Brigade, St James Church Milnrow. [Information kindly provided provided by Ralph (rjaydee on GWF)] He enlisted 18th November 1915 and served with the Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment, under the service number 35849. He was 27 years and 3 months old. Albert transferred to the R.A.M.C. around August 1917. He served in the UK until 5th March 1918, when he went to Egypt. He then served with the British Expeditionary Force in France from 6th April 1918. He died from bronchial pneumonia in No 19 Casualty Clearing Station.
