Other Information:Sydney lived in Harlesden, North West. He entered the war in France on 27th September 1915. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. His post got a direct hit, wounding himself and four stretcher-bearers. He got the wounded men away, arranged another post, and hearing that the Regimental Aid Post, for which he was responsible, had changed it's position, though severely wounded in the thigh, he set out in search of it through a heavy barrage, and located it. He then got his men in touch with it, and made his own way back to the dressing station, where he collapsed." Sydney received a SWB.
