Other Information:George entered the war in the Balkans on 30th July 1915. He is not mentioned in a list of men who went with Lt Smith and a party of stretcher-bearers to collect wounded between Green Knoll and The Pimple, Suvla on 17th August 1915. However, Robert Long states in his memoir:- "And now the firing became terrific. A young fellow named Judson (sic) came crawling up from below and crawled up to Flood, but before he could get under cover a bullet struck him on the right buttock, tearing away a large piece of his trousers. It must have gone right up in his stomach, for he just groaned a few times and died." Also in his book ‘At Suvla Bay’, John Hargrave’s describes a conversation when two of three men returned. “It’s days and days and long nights... couldn’t move an inch, and poor old George dying under a rock... no cover, and they shot at us if we moved... we waved the stretchers when we found we’d got too far... too far we got... too far... much too far, shot at us...” George was the son of William John and Eliza Jane Jutsum of 168 St. Mary's Road, Sheffield.
