Other Information:The Wrexham Advertiser, dated 1st September 1917 states - Brynteg Military Medalist: Another Brynteg soldier,Private John R Williams, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Shadrach Williams, 1 Quarry Road, Brynteg, has won honour on the battlefield. Private Williams who has served 22 months in France with the RAMC, succeeded during a violent German gas attack in rescuing three wounded men, and for his gallant action has been awarded the Military Medal. He is an old scholar of the Brynteg Schools and being an experienced ambulance man, volunteered for service and was soon sent to France. His mother has three brothers on active service.
