Other Information:Francis was educated at St Mary’s School, Chorley, and at the Catholic Day College, Preston. He was then employed by Messrs J Craven & Co of Chorley and later as a book-keeper at the Talbot Spinning & Weaving Company. He enlisted into the R.A.M.C. on 14th October 1914, and served with the Expeditionary Force, entering the war in France on 18th July 1915. He died at the Grayling War Hospital, Chichester of pleurisy and pneumonia, contracted whilst on active service. Francis was the son of Peter (an accountant) and Ann [daughter of William Ball] Eccles of 18 Springfield Road, Chorley.
