Other Information:Frederick enlisted on 23rd August 1915. He was 22 years and 8 months old; a Gardener by trade; and was living at Kiln Cottages, Diptford, South Brent, Devon at the time. He was posted to "X" Coy, then onto the 99th Field Ambulance. He embarked at Southampton on 15th November 1915, with the unit. Then disembarking at Havre the next day, he entered the war in France on 16th November 1915. Frederick received a gun shot wound to his left thigh and arm, whilst in action. He died in No 34 Casualty Clearing Station the same day. He was the son of Harry and Ellen Hodge of the same address as above. [Portrait photograph courtesy of Simon]
