Other Information:Robert was educated at St Cuthbert’s Scottish Episcopal Church Schools, Harwick, then became a Hosiery Boarder by trade, with Messrs. Peter Scott & Co Ltd, Harwick. He enlisted in the R.A.M.C. on 1st November 1915. He was 23 years and 6 months old at the time. He was posted to “R” Coy on the 3rd, then on 20th January 1916 was transferred to join reinforcements for overseas service. He embarked at Southampton on the 26th, then disembarking at Rouen the next day, entered the war in France on 27th January 1916. He was posted to serve with the 99th Field Ambulance, in the field, on the 3rd February 1915 and remained with the unit until he was wounded at Etrecourt. He was admitted into his unit but died the same day. Robert was the only son of John and Sarah Isabella [daughter of James Batey of Hexham] Campbell of 6 Slitrig Bank, Hawick.
