Other Information:[Special Reserve] Douglas qualified M.B., Ch.B. at Glasgow University. He entered the war in France in May 1915 and joined the 74th Field Ambulance on 13th August 1916. On 18th August he was posted to No 21 Casualty Clearing Station for temporary duty. During the Battle of Vimy Ridge he was serving as the Medical Officer i/c of the stretcher parties, and on the 16th April 1917 set up an Advanced Dressing Station at White Chateau, Levin. It was recorded in the unit war diary on the 8th June 1917 that he was killed in action on the 7th. Douglas was the son of John and Isabella Macfarlane Colville King of Auchengower, Helensburgh and Cove, Lochlongside.
