William entered the war in France on 2nd September 1915. He was in an evacuation dugout, occupied by men of the 74th Field Ambulance near Bernafay Wood, when it was directly hit by enemy shellfire at 9am. Both he and 49188 Pte T E Bulmer were killed. William was the son of Edwin and Emma Dunstone of 89 Delapre Street, Far Cotton, Northampton.
