Other Information:Sidney Arthur Fitch was from Tunbridhe Wells in Kent. He first entered the Theatre of War in Egypt on the 27th July 1915. Sidney was serving as a Cpl when he was Mentioned in Dispatches and when he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. The DCM was awarded for gallantry in Gallipoli – Suvia Bay. He was serving as a Sjt when awarded the Military Medal, this was for gallantry in Egypt (Service Number 33542). On the 14th June 1918, Sidney was commissioned into the Indian Army (Reserve of Officers) as a 2nd Lieutenant. [Information and photo: special thanks to Michael W Cook]
