Other Information:Robert was employed by Mr H Arthur (regrator) when war broke out. He was a member of the Wadebridge Fire Brigade and a member of the Wadebridge Branch of the Ancient Order of Foresters. Robert enlisted into the RAMC in September 1914 but on the 8th February 1915, went in to hospital because of ill health. Robert's situation became critical so his parents were summoned to be by his side. Robert appeared to recognize them momentarily at first but passed away two days after their arrival. The cause of death was tubercular meningitis. The interment took place at Limerick, and the funeral, which was a military one, was very largely attended. Floral emblems were presented from his parents, Amy, Cpl Porter, comrades in Room 04 and comrades in the 32nd Field Ambulance. Also sent were two wreaths, one from the 48th Field Ambulance and the other from the 50th Field Ambulance, and a cross from the 49th Field Ambulance.
