Other Information:Charles enlisted on 2nd March 1916. He was 19 years old, a shop assistant by trade, and was living at 47 Lower Road, Rotherhithe, London SE16 at the time. He was mobilized on 16th November 1916, and was posted to “V” Coy, where he stayed until 11th January 1917, he was then posted to No 10 Coy. He embarked at Southampton on 17th June, disembarking at Havre he entered the war in France on 18th June 1917. Charles embarked again at Havre, he disembarked at Rouen and joined the Cyclists B Depot. On 24th June, Charles was posted to serve with No 11 Stationary Hospital, in the field, but shortly after was posted again to the 108th Field Ambulance. He was admitted into his unit on 1st January 1918 and was transferred to No 24 General Hospital at Etaples. On 9th March 1918, shortly after being discharged from hospital, he was posted to serve with the 44th Field Ambulance. His service record has several entries for the date 24th March 1918 - that he was wounded in action; that he was admitted into his unit and then transferred to No 46 Casualty Clearing Station; and also Reposted as wounded and missing. The last entry dated 15th February 1919 states that he died on 25th March 1918 from wounds received in action, in the field. Charles was the son of William John and Jane Roberta Pavely of the same address as above.
