Other Information:William enlisted on 7th August 1915. He was 19 years and 8 months old; was a Labourer by trade; and was living at 29 Norman Street, Sunderland at the time. He joined at Sheffield on the 9th and was posted the 'R' Coy the next day. On 23rd October he was posted to serve with the 100th Field Ambulance, then sailing with them from Southampton on the 17th November to Havre - he entered the war in France on 18th November 1915. *On 29th July 1916, he is mentioned in the 100th Field Ambulance war diary as being severely wounded, evacuated, and not likely to live.
