Other Information:Thomas enlisted on 14th September 1914, he was 19 years and 6 months old; a Rivetter by trade; and resided at 20 Sixth Street, Belfast, Ireland at the time. He embarked with his unit at Southampton on 4th September 1915, arriving at Havre the next day. On 6th July 1916, he was wounded in action in the field, being admitted into his own unit with a gun shot wound to his face, he was immediately transferred back to No 3 Casualty Clearing Station, where he stayed until he was discharged and sent back to his unit on the 17th July. On 23rd March 1918, Thomas was reported missing in the field but was officially reported as a Prisoner of War in Germany on 11th October. He was repatriated from Germany on the 28th November, then sent home on board S.S. Takada, arriving in Hull the next day. On 4th February 1919 he reported sick and was sent to the Military Hospital, Kirkham with an injured wrist. He was then transferred to K.L.M.G.H. at Blackpool On the 19th October he became fit again for duty and was sent to the dispersal hospital in Preston, where he served until he was transferred to Army Reserve on 9th May 1919.
