Other Information:John entered the war in France on 5th October 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal for his actions when an ammunition train of nine trucks caught fire. He, along with 40997 Corporal J E Greenwood, 41011 Serjeant R Hall and 41008 Serjeant Major T Harland, pushed out of danger eight trucks of ammunition. This gallant work was performed amidst a hail of shells and fragments, owing to the ammunition in the ninth truck exploding. At any moment the contents of the remaining truck might have also exploded. John was the son of Mrs Feely of Rostrevor, and brother of Mr D Feely of 25 Glasgow Street.
