Thomas attested on 1st September 1914. He was 21 years and 2 months old and was serving with the St. Johns Ambulance Brigade as a Hospital Subordinate at the time. He embarked at Southampton on 10th May 1915, arriving the next day he entered the war in France on the 11th May 1915. Thomas was admitted admitted into the 29th Field Ambulance on 27th October 1915 - diagnosis I.C.T., and also into the 28th Field Ambulance - diagnosis Influenza. He was the son of Thomas Henry and Minnie Tigg of 27 Huntingham Street, Caledonian Road, Barnsbury.
