Other Information:Ernest enlisted on 27th October 1915. He was 21 years old. He joined at Aldershot on the 30th then served with No 1 T.B. Depot. He embarked at Southampton on 9th October 1916, then disemarking the next day at Rouen he entered the war in France on 10th October 1916. Ernest was posted to serve with the 102nd Field Ambulance, in the field, on the 16th. He was temporarily attached to the 104th Field Ambulance when he was killed, whilst doing stretcher-bearer work, in what was described as, arduous conditions. He was the son of Emily Barrett of 52 Sea Street, Newport, Isle of Wight.
