Other Information:Jack received a letter dated 13th September 1915, advising him to report to the Recruiting Officer, Mill Hill, London at 9.30 a.m. on the 16th September 1915. He was a painter by trade and was 38 years and 18 days old. Jack underwent training until January 1916, and was then posted to stretcher-bearing duties until August 1917. From August 1917, he was employed as a storeman, a position he held until the end of the war. He was described on his certificate of employment as a thoroughly reliable, hard working man of excellent character. Jack was the son of John William Stedman (Senior) and Emily Mower.
