Other Information:Peter enlisted on 7th August 1915. He was 29 years and 6 months old; was a Blacksmith by trade; and was a widower, living at Morton House, Treflach, Oswestry, Salop at the time. On 1st November 1915, he was promoted to Corporal. He embarked at Southampton on 9th October 1916 as a reinforcement, then disembarking at Rouen the next day, he entered the war in France on 10th October 1916. He was posted to serve with the 111th Field Ambulance, in the field, 6 days later on the 16th. Peter had a couple of bouts of illness (P.U.O.) in December 1916 and in August 1917. He was awarded the Military Medal for “His for Bravery in the Field”. On 21st March 1918, he was wounded, and admitted into 113th Field Ambulance with shrapnel wounds to his right leg and right arm. He was transferred to No 2 CCS the same day, then back again to No 3 Australian General Hospital in Abberville on the 26th. He died in the hospital from his wounds. Peter was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Morris of Treflach, Oswestry, Salop; and the father of George, born 14th October 1913 at Chestnut Cottage, High Street, Welshpool.
