Other Information:Thomas lived at 5 Chapel Row, New Lambton, Fencehouses. His occupation was postman when he attested for service on 30th October 1915. He married Ethel (maiden name not given) of 56 Station Avenue North, Fencehouses on 21st December 1915 at Houghton Le Spring. From 30th October 1915 - 25th January 1916 Thomas served at home at Sheffield. He entered the war in France on 26th January 1916 and was sent to serve at No 17 Casualty Clearing Station from the 3rd February 1916. On 28th May 1918 he was admitted to 3 Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis casued by active service conditions, and on the 30th May was transferred to England on a hospital ship. He remained 'home' from 31st May 1918 - 21st June 1918, when discharged with a 60% degree of disability, TB caused by active service conditions. He needed sanitorium treatment and was admitted to No 3 Western General Hospital. Thomas died at home. [Information researched and kindly provided by John Grainger]
