Other Information:John enlisted on 18th June 1915. He was 19 years and 1 month old, and a Cook by trade. He embarked to join the British Salonika Force on 13th September 1915, arriving in Salonika on 4th October 1915. He was attached to the Sherwood Rangers Yeomany for water duty when he began to suffering from malaria. He was admitted into the 21st Stationary Hospital, then evacuated to Malta. From there he embarked to return to England on 19th September. Arriving in the UK on 26th September 1916 he was admitted into the Southwark Military Hospital, London the next day. On 28th January 1917 he entered the war on the Western Front. He was serving with the 141st Field Ambulance on 19th February 1917, when he was transferred to 30th H.A.G. for duty. He remained with the British Expeditionary Force until 30th January 1919, and was serving with the 60th Field Ambulance at the time he was discharged from the army. On 28th February 1919 he was transferred to Class Z Reserves.
