Other Information:John enlisted on 4th February 1913. He was 18 years and 1 month old; was a general labourer by trade; and was living in Dublin at the time. He was also serving with the 4th Royal Dublin Fusiliers (SR) He entered the war in France on 14th August 1914 as part of the medical team attached to the 1st Bn. Black Watch (Royal Highlanders Regiment). He served with the British Expeditionary Force until 20th October 1917 when he returned to the UK. In the UK he served with 14 Coy. He was discharged from the army as no longer fit due to the effects of gas poisoning and was issued a Silver War Badge. He was the son of James of 12 Cork Road, Dublin.
