Other Information:Charles enlisted on 10th October 1898. He was 18 years and 11 months old, and was a warehouseman by trade, and was posted to serve with 30 Coy. He was appointed Lance-Corporal on 1st July 1908 and was promoted to Corporal on 1st October 1909. On 26th October the same year, he re-enlisted into the R.A.M.C. at Devonport. Charles was active service in South Africa from 1899 to 1902 at Natal. He entered the war in France on 14th August 1914 as part of the medical team attached to the 1st Bn. Black Watch (Royal Highlanders Regiment). He received a gun shot wound in his back on 15th November 1914. He was admitted into hospital and was evacuated back to the UK on the Hospital Ship �St David�. On 29th April 1915 he went to Malta, where he served until 10th December 1919 with No 2 Malta Coy. During this time he was appointed (with pay) acting Staff Serjeant on 24th September 1915, and acting Quarter Master Serjeant on 16th August 1916. He was discharged on 10th December 1919 due to termination of second period of engagement. He was the son of Charles Everett of St Lukes, London.
