Other Information:Edward was educated at Kirkcaldy High School and Edinburgh University - entering as a student of medicine in 1909, he qualified M.B., Ch.B. in 1914. He gained a commission in the R.A.M.C. (T.F.) at the rank of Lieutenant in 1915, being promoted to Captain the same year. Entering the war in France on 21st August 1915, he was wounded in 1915 and again in 1916. Edward appears to have been attached to a Cyclist Battalion and for a time to the 5th Bn. Royal Scots. He was awarded the Military Cross "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He tended and dressed the wounded under heavy fire continuously for 18 hours. He set a splendid example of courage and determination throughout." - actions conducted in November 1916. Edward was killed by a stray shell before 12 noon, when it was reported back. He was the son of John and Jessie Blair of Markinch, Fife.
