Other Information:George enlisted on 17th April 1901. He was 19 years and 6 months old, and was a Labourer by trade. He saw service in South Africa in 1902, gaining the Queen's South African Medal with clasp. On 16th April 1909 he was transferred to Army Reserve, but he re-engaged in the R.A.M.C. on 17th April 1913. He entered the war in France on 11th September 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Bn. East Kent Regiment. On 8th January 1915 he was admitted to hospital suffering an injury to his left foot and was evacuated to the UK on the 12th. He was discharged 'no longer physically fit for war service' on 23rd July 1915.
