Other Information:George entered the war in France on 13th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Bn. Cameron Highlanders. On 8th September 1916 he had been serving with the 141st Field Ambulance when he was admitted with a �GSW� to his right shoulder. He was admitted into the hospital of the 1st Field Ambulance. On 26th June 1917 he was stuck off the strength of the unit from 5th May 1917, having been declared an absentee from that date by a Court of Enquiry assembled on 26th June 1917 in accordance with para 673 King�s Regulations. He finally rejoined the unit on 29th June, then was tried on 2nd August 1917 by Field General Court Martial at Head Quarters of 1st Royal Highlanders on the following charge:- �When on Active Service, absenting himself without leave, in that he in the Field absented himself after leave granted to the United Kingdom from Tatoo Roll Call, 23/4/1917 till 7.45 p.m. on the 28/4/1917�. He was found guilty and awarded 56 days of Field Punishment. No 1. On 19th August 1917 the sentence of Field General Court Martial of 56 days Field Punishment No 1 was remitted by 28 days. He rejoined the unit from A.P.M., 1st Division on 3rd September 1917. On 31st January 1918 he was still serving with the 141st Field Ambulance, and had been awarded 28 days Field Punishment No 1 for overstaying his pass to the UK by one day.
